5 Tips to Feel Confident this Summer
1. Remove negativity:
Submerge your energy with others who uplift and motivate you to be a better person. (Let me say that louder for the people in the back!) It doesn’t do me any good to hang around people who do not have the same mindset. Cut out those toxic people and tighten your circle. I never really realized how important this is. Why be around people who are unforgiving, not trustworthy, disloyal, don't want the best for you, hold grudges, aren't happy for you, are manipulative, have lying spirits, are never happy, or think they're perfect?....I could go on forever! Your body, spirit, and soul needs positive influences. What you listen to and who you listen to is important. I stopped seeking advice from people awhile ago. You know why? Because their advice was wrong, not encouraging, not biblical, insensitive, and simply all over the place. Why seek advice from people who need help themselves? If you need someone to guide you in a positive direction sis, seek spiritual advisors, someone you FULLY trust, or a therapist. Sometimes toxic people are hard to get away from because of the circumstances. If this is the case for you, I encourage you to stay strong and to be a positive light for them. Inspire them with your words and most importantly through your actions.
2. Look good, feel good:
Put effort into your yourself. Whether you know it or not, doing your hair, makeup, and putting on a fly outfit makes you feel so powerful and confident. Stop making excuses on why you “can’t” dress nice because with little effort and resources you’d be surprised at what you can come up with. Doing a closet clean out can also help with a fresh start, a little shopping never hurt anybody!
3. Go outside:
I like to go for a walk because it centers me. Put your phone away and take in the beauty that's around you. Listen to the birds chirping and the wind blowing. Look around you. Notice the flowers, the trees, people walking, and the blue sky. Whether you are playing outside with your kids or soaking up vitamin D from the sun. If you don’t get enough vitamin D, it can affect the way you feel and how well you perform. Being outside for only 10 minutes a day is better than not being outside at all. Go outside today and breathe in some fresh air! Go for a hike or to the beach with friends, make a day out of it!
4. Listen to motivational podcasts, sermons, or a playlist:
I love beginning my day with encouraging podcasts and a sermon. Right now my favorite podcasts are Slay Girl Slay, Girl CEO, and Bigger Pockets Real Estate. My favorite person I'm currently watching and listening to is Joyce Meyer. She is hilarious, direct, and just reminds me of a wise grandmother. I also enjoy listening to gospel, jazz, and soothing music while I'm in the shower or working. What we listen to affects us! Trust me I know! If the last thing you listened to was a 2 Chainz song, you will wake up with his song in your head! LOL!!
5. Write in a journal:
Releasing emotion onto paper has many benefits for our mental health. Journaling will allow you to understand your feelings more clearly. No one can judge you because there are no rules when it comes to writing in your personal journal.
You can go back and read what you’ve written and you’ll notice GROWTH every time.
